Hi families!

It was so nice talking to the kids and parents who did 1-on-1s yesterday! We’re missing everyone a lot and it was great to get some time to connect. We know it’s pretty different for kids to be seeing their teachers and classmates on the computer and we appreciate all the parental support that goes into making it happen and helping kids process whatever feelings they might be having about it. We appreciate you all so much.

An activity: Do a science experiment! After watching, try and do the experiment, too:

  • You will need: milk, food coloring, and dish soap.

  • Fill a plate with milk, then put in drops of food coloring.

  • Use a dropper or Q-tip to put in a small drop of dish soap, and see how it reacts!

  • After, try using water instead of milk!

If you want to talk about how it works, check out the answer here: https://www.stevespanglerscience.com/lab/experiments/milk-color-explosion/

An activity: Livestream Kids Yoga. There are many online kids yoga classes available these days via Zoom! One, “Online Yoga Kids Adventures”, is offered by Dr. Sheena. She has two classes for preschoolers: one on Tuesday afternoons at 1:30pm (Meeting ID: 131-029-229) and one on Thursday mornings at 9:30am (Meeting ID: 708-583-775). It’s donation based! For more information click here.

For parents: A Kids Book About COVID-19. Here is a PDF of “A Kids Book About COVID-19”. It’s a pretty in depth children’s book about the virus itself, how it’s spread, and what we’re doing to stop it. Take a look and see if it feels like something you would like to read with your child. It’s geared a bit older, but it could help you answer questions your child might be asking.

We are holding you all in our thoughts and hearts. Please don’t hesitate to reach out. We are here to support you in any way that you need.

Warmly,

Rachel Ford and Patricia Houston
