Hi families! We hope this email finds you well this Monday morning and that you were able to enjoy the warm weather this weekend.

IMPORTANT NEWS: Please sign up for your 10-15 minutes phone call with Rachel/Patricia this week! This will be a quick survey/check-in which will help us to shape the rest of our school-at-home curriculum this year. You will be doing your phone call with the teacher who held your conferences.

Please let us know if you want to schedule a time outside of the slots we gave. We will be trying to call all parents at some point this week, but want it to be as conveniently timed for you as possible, so please sign up!

Morning meeting: Join Teacher Rachel for Share and Tell and a short lesson on how to hold silkworms. If your child has any reactions or questions about what anyone shared, consider sending an email or letter to them to let them know!

One-on-ones: Today, we are continuing our Monday one-on-one calls — you should have gotten an email yesterday with a Zoom link for your child’s call.

Close observation and play: Silkworms eating. When feeding your silkworms, try using multiple senses to observe their eating and then try replicating those observations through play.

  • What does it sound like?

  • What does it smell like?

  • What do they look like?

Do you eat any food in a similar way? Maybe, try eating some lettuce or spinach like a silkworm! Playing out observations and ideas about the world is how children learn and solidify their knowledge! Here is a video of silkworms eating. (Thanks Zoey!)
