Hi, Redbud families!
In today’s teacher message, Sock the hand puppet and I tell a story about a flower that we found together in our backyard! We notice that the flower is taller than Sock’s body, and we count how many leaves and blooms the flower has.
Today’s suggested activity: natural materials are great tools for children to engage in open-ended play that is full of practicing skill sets. For example: in the teacher message, I use comparative language (“taller than”), and I count two sets of objects: leaves and blooms. Counting sets of objects accurately and thinking about height, a form of measurement, are both math skills that your Redbud is starting to learn and grasp right now. Try seeing how much you can notice about the natural materials closest to you!
Thanks, everyone! See you next time!
